His special gift is his ability to reach into the audience, capture their attention, build their trust and kick start a process of change. People leave his sessions entertained, informed and inspired. Rarely does someone simply return to “business as usual” after seeing a James Lawson presentation. James's topic list is diverse with something to suit any small business audience.
As the co-founder of Impact Business Solutions LLC , James’s greatest love is the philosophy of actually designing your own success. It’s an obsession which connects him closely with highly motivated business owners where he is in the unique position to have deep insights into an enormous variety of topics, issues, markets, industries, and challenges that they face everyday.

If you had said to me back when I was a boy living in Scotland that someday I would have my own business helping other business owners create multiple 6-figures, I would have laughed in your face (as would my parents).
The son of a blue collar working class family in the industrial midlands of Scotland - those things weren't even close to being on my radar!
After leaving school at 16 with absolutely NO qualifications, I entered into an engineering program with a local telecom company, did a 5-year apprenticeship and qualified with distinction (that's when my parents realized it wasn't lack of ability, more a lack of purpose and inspiration.
The next 10 years were basically me trying to figure out where my place in life was. So, I spent 5 years earning an engineering degree only to NEVER use it. I moved into an office as an assistant buyer (hated that!) to then move into sales - that's when things started to happen.
I decided to take control of my life, wrote out a 10year career plan and followed it to the letter...within 10years I was running a $500M sales operation for the worlds largest networking company.
That's when my philosophy of Designing Ones Own Success began to take life
So, how did I end living in Northern Virginia, running my own consulting business?
That story involves an ideal storm, a bar, a woman, a German and me on stage singing 'My Girl' by the Temptations in front of 500 people and all that would require a book - now there's an idea!
